@PokeTrainerTino started on Twitter (later renamed X) from my love of analytics and collecting Pokémon Trading cards. Getting back into the collecting world in 2021, I knew that information was the name of the game – as trading cards fluctuate constantly – and with so many sets and cards I started by searching up cards of my favorite Pokemon and looking at their values. At this time I also joined Twitter as @PokeTrainerTino to see what information I could get there. Seeing a lack of the information I was looking for myself, I decided to create threads (multiple tweets strung together due to the 140-character limit, outlining a story) detailing my findings with anyone who was interested.
Some threads dealt with sealed products and the fluctuation of the item’s value over time. I would mention what the sealed product contained and then look at the difference in value over time if someone opened the item compared to if they kept it sealed. I would mention the types of packs, novelty items, and promo cards and include (most) everything in my calculations.
Other threads dealt with specific Pokémon. For these threads, I would focus on one specific Pokémon and look up the values of all the cards the Pokemon has solely featured in. From those, I would then find the top 15 or 20 most valuable cards and rank them in a thread (multiple tweets strung together).
As of October 3, 2023 I have bee able to complete 66 threads and covered more than 50 specific Pokemon as well as many great products and look to finish with at least 75 threads by the end of the year. The threads thus far have gotten over a million impressions and thousands of likes and reposts leading the account to obtain 930 organic followers on X (formerly Twitter) – without having to do a giveaway. In the future, I hope to have my threads and information featured as blogs within Pokemon related websites and continue to build my platform on X (formerly Twitter).
